Questions, answered
How DishCount gets its deals, why one can look different by the time you reach the app, and what we do with none of your data.
Why doesn't this deal match what I see in the app?
Two things cause almost every mismatch, and neither means the deal was never there.
First, timing. We re-check each platform a few times a day rather than continuously, so a promo can start or end between syncs. When a platform's data is more than a day old we say so on the deal itself with an “as of” date.
Second, your address. Grubhub, DoorDash, Uber Eats and Seamless target promotions by delivery address, so two people in the same town can open the same restaurant and see different offers. We collect what a platform publishes for the area around each town, which is the best available approximation of what you'll see — not a guarantee of it.
Prices and offers on the platform itself are always the real ones. Treat DishCount as the map, not the till.
How fresh is the data?
Deals refresh several times a day. Most platforms are re-checked continuously through the day; some are on a slower cadence.
Rather than promise a single number we can't hold to, we disclose it per deal: if a platform hasn't synced successfully in the last 24 hours, every deal from it carries a muted “as of” date so you can judge it yourself.
Why isn't my town covered?
We're live across New Jersey and adding towns as we go. Coverage is built town by town because each one needs its own set of platform locations wired up before the deals it returns are trustworthy.
If you search an area we don't cover yet — or one where we're still thin — you'll see a short form asking which town you want. That request is how we pick what to add next, so it's worth filling in. You can leave an email if you want to hear when it's ready; nothing else is required.
I know a restaurant with a deal — why isn't it on DishCount?
A few possible reasons: we focus on well-reviewed restaurants, so spots with very low ratings or too few reviews don't make the cut; the restaurant may be outside your search radius or our current coverage area; in dense areas we show the top 200 results ranked by distance and deal value, so it may be further down; or the deal may have ended since our last update. We also filter out non-restaurant listings (grocery, pharmacy, retail) that delivery apps mix into their feeds — DishCount is for food. If you think we're genuinely missing a restaurant, let us know.
Do I need an account?
No. There's no signup, no login and no app to install. Favorites and preferences are stored in your own browser against a random device identifier, not an account.
One consequence worth knowing: clear your browser data and your saved favorites go with it.
How does DishCount make money?
Right now, it doesn't. DishCount is free, there are no ads, and we don't sell your data.
When you tap a deal you go straight to the delivery platform — we don't take a cut, mark anything up, or sit between you and your order. If that ever changes, this page will say so before it does.
Why is the app showing me a better price than you are?
The deals we list are the public ones — what a platform shows to anyone browsing. A logged-in account, or a membership like DashPass, Uber One or Grubhub+, can unlock the same offer or a better one.
So DishCount is a floor, not a ceiling: if the app beats what we showed you, take the app's price.
